Controllers are the part of the system operators actually meet — the wall panel in the control room, the alarm that must be understood at a glance at 3 a.m. Their selection follows point count, relay needs and how alarms escalate.

What a controller adds
Beyond display, a controller centralises alarm thresholds, latching behaviour, fault supervision of every loop, and the relay outputs that start ventilation, close valves or signal the plant system. A detector wired straight to a panel can report a number; a controller turns numbers into an area safety function.
Sizing starts from the point schedule: number of points now, spare capacity for the points the next project phase adds, and whether the panel must speak to a DCS or stand alone.
Pairing with points
The MIC300 and MIC100 transmitters on this site are the natural points for these controllers; the fixed detectors category sets out the whole scheme, and the portable-versus-fixed comparison explains where controllers sit in the wider detection strategy.
